Emirates Stadium

Thank God it’s Friday tomorrow! This Friday brings extra happiness to our lives with the eagerly awaited return of the Premier League. It kicks off with Arsenal vs Leicester at the Emirates. Needless to say it’s been a long summer

Arsenal have faced Leicester a total of 137 times in their history and as most would imagine they’ve got the upper hand overall with 64 victories over the foxes, they’ve drawn 44 times and lost 29.

The last time these two met was at the end of April when Arsenal won 1 – 0. The gunners haven’t been beaten by Leicester since 2000, that was on penalties in an FA Cup match.

Who’s new? Who’s starting?

Alexandre Lacazette joined Arsenal this year in a £34 million move from Olympic Lyon, the 26 year old French man has bagged himself 100 goals in a total of 203 appearances in La Ligue.

Arsenal (or Arsene) have shown interest in Lacazette for years but never fully committed, citing that the time wasn’t right and the player wasn’t ready. But at 26 years of age, it would appear that he’s now ready to make his mark in the Premier League

German born Bosnian left back Sead Kolasinac also joined this summer from FC Schalke 04, the 24 year old was reportedly signed on a free transfer. Both new arrivals are in line for their Premier League debuts.

Alexis Sanchez won’t be starting; their star player won’t be playing due to a reported abdominal injury. This has naturally only added to the speculation that Man City are closing in to sign their key man. Pep and Alexis have worked togetrher before at Barcelona and the Manchester City Manager hasn’t tried to hide his enthusiasm to have Alexis playing under him again.

Leicester’s summer arrival Vicente Iborra won’t be starting for them due to injury. The Spanish midfielder arrived from Sevilla for a reported £12.75 million, but we’ll need to wait to see his Premier League debut.
