Liverpool have faced Crystal Palace 48 previous times and as you would expect it is Liverpool with the better record winning 24 times. palace have won 13 and they have drawn 11 times.

Last time they met in the reverse fixture was back in October and it ended in a 4-2 victory to Liverpool. Emre Can put them ahead after 16 minutes but they were immediately pegged back with a James McArthur equaliser. They then put themselves back in front through Dejan Lovran in the 21st minute. Just over 10 minutes later James McArthur grabbed his 2nd to make it 2-2. The 1st half goals hadn’t finished their because Joel Matip grabbed Liverpool’s 3rd just before half time to restore their lead again. In the 71st minute Roberto Firminho completed the scoring and confirmed the 3 points for Liverpool.

Liverpool have been in good form of late winning 4 and drawing 2 of their last 6 games. Last time out was a good 1-0 away win against West Brom at the Hawthorns.

Crystal Palace have been in good form themselves winning 4, drawing 1 and losing 1 of their last 6. Last time out they managed a 2-2 draw at home against the Champions Leicester.

Liverpool currently sit in 3rd place but they are 5 points behind 2nd so a win here could put some pressure on Spurs. They will be hoping to pull away from Arsenal and the Manchester clubs behind them too.

Crystal Palace are down in 15th despite their decent good form, they are currently 7 points above relegation and a win could take them as high as 12th place.

Liverpool are without Sadio Mane and Henderson who are probably out for the season. Adam Lallana is nearing fitness but this game will be too soon. Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan and Lucas Leiva are all doubts as they did not train this week.

The only absentee for Palace is the impressive loanee Mamadou Sakho who is ineligible to play against his parent club.

In his press conference Jurgen Klopp singled out former reds striker Christian Benteke as the main danger saying “We have to stop the crossing getting to him but also he has other strengths other than his heading ability”.

Sam Allardyce said “We are in Champions League form for picking points up at the moment, which should give us a huge amount of confidence going into this game”.

Liverpool are favourites and are 1/2 with most firms but you can get 53/100 with Marathon bet. The draw is @ 15/4 with bet365 and Palace can be backed @ 61/10 with Marathon bet.

Palace have been a small thorn in Liverpool’s sides a few times in recent years and I think it could be the case again here, I am going to predict a draw in this one.
