Middlesbrough V Arsenal
Monday 17th April 2017
21:00 Kick Off Live on Sky Sports 1
Middlesbrough have met Arsenal on 131 previous occasions and as expected it is Arsenal who have the better record, they have won 64, Boro have won 34 and they have drawn 33 times.
Arsenal are unbeaten against boro in their last 5 games and last time out the Emirates Boro earned themselves a very good point with a 0-0 draw.
Boro have been in pretty awful form of late losing 4 and drawing 2 of their last 6 matches. Last time out they did grab a point at home to Burnley in a 0-0 draw.
Arsenal have not been in great form themselves winning 2, drawing 1 and losing 3 of their last 6 matches. Last time out they suffered a huge 3-0 away loss to Crystal Palace.
Boro are currently deep in the relegation zone in 19th, they are 6 points from safety but have played 2 games less so it is still in their hands but they need a victory here.
Arsenal are currently all the way down in 7th but a win here could take them up to 5th ahead of Everton and Man Utd (depending on United’s result with Chelsea on Sunday).
Boro’s Callum Chambers is unavailable for the game as he is injured and this is his parent club so he would be ineligible. Fabio and George Friend are also out injured. Gastom Ramirez faces a late fitness test.
Arsenal are without goalkeeper David Ospina and Petr Cech is still a doubt. Laurent Koscielny also faces a late fitness test.
Boro are unbeaten in their last 4 home games and they will need to continue that here if they want to remain in the Premier League.
Arsenal have never finished outside of the top 4 under Arsene Wenger and if they fail to win here they could pretty much forget Champions League football next season.
Despite the poor recent form and the fact they are away from home Arsenal are still favourites for this and can be backed @ 6/10 with Bet Stars. The draw is best with Betfair @ 17/5 and Boro are @ 28/5 with Marathon Bet.
Arsenal playing after everyone else could really feel the pressure here and I think the Boro players will be up for this more than Arsenal so I will put a small wager on Boro.
