Borussia Dortmund V Benfica

Wednesday 8th March 2017
20:45 Kick Off on BT Sport Available with GibSat

When these two met a fortnight ago Benfica managed to take a 1-0 victory from their home leg. That scoreline leaves this tie wide open going into the 2nd leg.

Despite being unable to score last time out against Benfica, I am sure Dortmund will be confident they can get something out of this game. They did miss a penalty in the first leg that star striker Pierre Emerick Aubameang failed to convert, if that had gone in this could have been a very different tie with an away goal. The major news concerning Dortmund is the thigh injury to Marco Rues which is expected to rule him out for over a month.

Since Dortmund lost 1-0 to Benfica in the first leg their league form has picked up massively, they have played 3 leagues games since then scoring 12 goals and conceding just 2 winning all 3 games including earlier this week when they beat another Champions League side Bayer Leverkusen by 6 goals to 2.

Benfica will be happy to get a 1-0 win last time out but that leaves their manager with a tricky decision, do we defend what we have or do we go for an away goal. They do know however that an away goal here will leave Dortmund having to score at least 3 goals. The biggest worry for the Portuguese side will be that they have played in Germany on 9 previous occasions and lost all 9 games.

Since the first leg Benfica have played 4 times and won all 4 including this past weekend when they managed a 1-0 away win which they would love to emulate here.

You can get 7/20 on a Dortmund win in 90 minutes with Marathon bet and Betway, you can get 5/1 for the draw with Betway and Benfica are @ 9/1 with most firms to win in 90 minutes.

To qualify is Dortmund are @ 8/11 with a few firms and that will be my bet as they have been scoring for fun of late. You can get 11/8 with 188bet for Benfica to qualify.
