Arsenal V Bayern Munich

Tuesday 7th March 2017
20:45 Kick Off on BT Sport 2 available with GibSat

Realistically it would take a minimum of 5 goals for Arsenal to even consider getting through to the quarter finals of the Champions League. The defence is lacking some serious confidence, and only a fool would back against Bayern scoring at least one goal this evening.

The main question hanging over this game is Alexis Sanchez. Arsenals main man was dropped to the bench away at Anfield as Arsenal were mercilessly dismantled by Liverpools pace and pressing. Arsenal only looked like a Premier League team once the change was made at half time to bring Sanchez on, who then played the killer for Danny Welbecks delightful goal to give the Gunners some hope. To say he was rested for this game would be completely ludicrous, even the most speculative supporter can’t see anything other than Bayern getting through to the last 8.

However, Arsene will want a reaction. It was a poor, poor, performance by any standard against Liverpool.

Bayern may rest players players this evening, but as is their strength in depth, you would still struggle to see Arsenal pick up even a consolation victory over a second string team.

The only positive for neutrals about the state of this tie, is that the game could turn into an open affair with both teams getting plenty of chances. Arsenal will need to go gung-ho from kick off, and that should open up a lot of space for Bayern to play in.

You can get @19/20 on Bayern WDW 90 mins¬†with various firms, Arsenal are @11/4 across the board and the draw is currently best price @14/5 with 32Red. If you believe in miracles, Arsenal are best priced @40/1 with Paddy Powers to qualify, but you’d have to have some bottle (or be stupidly optimistic) to go for it, in my opinion.
