Middlesbrough V Manchester United
Sunday 18th March 2017
13:00 Kick off Live on BT Sport
These two have 125 times in the past and as you would expect Man Utd have the better record winning 63 times, Boro have won 34 times and they have drawn 28 times.
They last met on New Years eve in the reverse fixture to this at Old Trafford and Man Utd came out on top in a 2-1 victory. It looked to be 3 huge away points for Boro when they took a shock lead in the 67th minute. Unfortunitely they couldn’t make the lead stick and Man Utd turned the whole game on it’s head in teo minutes when firstly in the 85th minute Anthony Martial grabbed an equaliser then just a minute later Paul Pogba snatched a winner for the Red Devils.
Boro have been really struggling of late having won 1, drew 1 and lost 4 of their last 6 in all competitions. Last time out they suffered a defeat at home to Man City, they will be hoping not to lose at home to both Manchester clubs one after the other.
Man Utd have been in OK form of late, they have won 3, drawn 2 and lost 1 of their last 6. Las time they got back to winning ways with a 1-0 home win against Rostov in the Europa League.
Boro are deep in a relegation battle now and find themselves 2nd to bottom in 19th, a win can take them above Hull into 18th and a huge leap towards safety.
Man Utd find themselves down in 7th place going into this due to Everton winning and going above them, a win here will take them above Arsenal into 5th place.
Boro will come into this missing 3 first teamers in the shape of Daniel Ayala, Calum Chambers and George Friend.
Man Utd are without a fair few themselves, Ibrahimovic and Herrera are both suspended, Pogba is expected to miss out with a Hamstring strain and Daley Blind is a doubt after receiving a knock on the head last time.
Middlesbrough’s caretaker boss Steve Agnew: “I have to be honest, Thursday (The day manager Karanka was sacked) was a really difficult and emotional day. Aitor Karanka put in incredible work over the last three and a half years. I really enjoyed his work and his company during my two and a half years working with him.
Man Utd Boss Jose Mourinho used the press conference tocomplain about Manchester United’s schedule complaining his players are running on empty and he even claimed he would consider a point here a great result as his have played too much football of late.
Man Utd are favourite for this despite Mourinho’s claims his players are too tired, they are generally 7/10 with most firms but you can get 18/25 with Maratonbet. The draw is 14/5 with a couple including Bet365 and Middlesbrough are 21/4 with Betvictor.
I think Boro can get a draw out of this so I will have a small bet on the draw.
