Manchester City V Stoke City

Wednesday 8th March 2017
21:00 Kick Off Live on Sky Sports 1

These two have faced each other 110 times in the past, Man City have won 49 times, Stoke 37 times and they have drawn 24 times.

The last 2 times these two have met Man City have put 4 past Stoke including in the reverse fixture early in the season at the Bet365 stadium, Bojan scored a penalty for Stoke but that was only a consolation goal as both Aguaro and Nolito got a brace to seal the victory for the Manchester club.

Man City are in good run of form at the moment having won 5 and drawn 1 of their last 6 in all competitions. Last time out was a 2-0 away win at struggling Sunderland.

Stoke have been quite inconsistent of late winning 2, drawing 2 and losing 2 of their last 6 in all competitions. They did manage a good 2-0 win last time out over Middlesbrough.

Man City are currently in 3rd position in the Premier league and a win here could take them above Spurs into 2nd and close the gap to 9 points on leaders Chelsea.

Stoke currently sit in 9th position but they are 5 points behind West Brom who are in 8th so they need the 3 points here to help bridge that gap.

Pep Guardiola has said he believes his Manchester City team have been playing much better over recent weeks and that shows in the points and wins they have gained. He did go on to say that now we have reached march any slip ups can see you fall out of touch with your rivals.

Mark Hughes has said he hopes his Stoke side can be an irritant to both Man City and Chelsea over the next 2 games, he also hinted he may set his team out to be a little more frustrating.

Man City are waiting on news as to whether club captain Vincent Kompany will be available following his recovery from injury. They are still without Jesus and Gundagon who have long term injuries.

Stoke can not select Bony for tonight’s game as his is still owned by Man City and that was part of the loan agreement. They do welcome back Shaqiri who has had recent lay off with a calf injury however there are doubts to a string of first teamers such as Arnautovic, Glenn Johnson and Bruno Martin Indi.

Man City are generally 2/9 but you can get 1/4 with Betway, the draw is generally 11/2 but you can get 6/1 with Marathon bet and Stoke are 12s or 14s across the board but can be backed @ 29/2 with Marathon bet.

I don’t think any team in the top 10 should be as big as 14/1 or bigger to beat another Premier League team so I wouldn’t discourage you for having a cheeky punt on that but in all honesty City should win this especially if Stoke are missing so many players. My bet will be Man City to win and both teams to score @ 15/8 with Paddy Power.
