Man City v Monaco

Tuesday 21st February 2017

Man City came through Group C as runners-up behind Barcelona. 2 wins, 3 draws and a loss was enough to see them through to the knock out stages. Man City are in 2nd place in the Premier League at the moment, 8 points behind leaders Chelsea. Despite being in 2nd place I think the club will be disappointed they are so far behind the current leaders.

Last time out they played in the FA Cup against Championship side Huddersfield who managed to hold them to a 0-0 draw which has forced a replay that Man City could have done without. City did make a lot of changes to the starting line up for that tie probably with this game in mind.

A major blow for Man City is January signing Gabriel Jesus who has started his City career in fantastic form is out due to a foot injury. Captain Vincent Kompany is also out with a leg injury and Gael Clichy is a doubt with a back injury.

Monaco came out of Group E as group winners. they managed 3 wins, 2 draw and 1 defeat to see them finish 1 point ahead of runners-up Bayer Leverkusen and 4 points ahead of 3rd placed Tottenham Hotspurs.

Monaco are in fine form in their Ligue 1. they currently sit on top of the pile 3 points ahead of last years Champions PSG.

They did struggle last time out in a 1-1 draw against relegation battlers Bastia. Sadio Diallo put Bastia ahead in the first half, Bernardo Silva managed to net the equaliser to secure a point in the 2nd half for Monaco.

Monaco are without suspended Jemerson and Boschilia is also out with a knee injury.

Man City are favourites for this and you can get @4/6 with Ladbrokes if you fancy them. The draw can be backed @10/3 with a few of the firms and Monaco can be backed @19/4 with a few of the firms.

I think after being left out since City signed Jesus, Sergio Aguero will have something to prove to Pep Guardiola so I will be backing him to score the first goal @10/3 with BetVictor. I will also have a bet on City with Ladbrokes @4/6 to take a lead into the 2nd leg.
