Benfica V Dortmund

Tuesday 14th February 2017
19.45 Kick Off on BT Sport 1 available with GibSat

Benfica came through their group as runners up behind group leaders Napoli. They managed 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats finishing on 8 points. Benfica are going well in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, they currently top the table 1 point ahead of rival F.C Porto.

Their last league game finished with a comfortable 3-0 home victory against mid-table side Arouca despite being reduced to 10 men in the 1st half, a brace from Mitroglou and a 3rd from Carrillo sealed the victory.

Benfica team news is Lisandro Lopez remains sidelined, Alex Grimaldo is not available for the Champions League and Andrija Zivkovic is suspended. Look out for star midfielder 27 year old Pizzi who’s bagged 11 goals and 9 assists in total for Benfica this season.

Borussia Dortmund came through a tough group which included champions Real Madrid to reach the knock out stages. Not only did they get out of the group they topped it without losing a game, winning 4 and drawing 2.

Despite their great run in the Champions League Dortmund are somewhat struggling in the Bundesliga, they are down in 4th position and some 15 points off rivals FC Bayern Munchen.

Last time out they lost 3-0 away to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Dortmund are without Nuri Sahin and Sebastian Rode due long term injuries. Marcel Schmelzer and Lukasz Piszczek are both doubtful. Mario Gotze is also set to miss out after falling out of favour with his manager following a string of poor performances, he has also been struggling with a leg injury.

The bookies have this one priced up pretty closely, Dormund are slight favourites @ 7/5 with a few of the big firms. The draw is @49/20 with BetStars and Benfica are @23/10 with 188bet.

I think a home win is worth a small bet in this one given Dormunts despleted squad and their current league form, so @23/10 on Benfica for me. I also think 1-0 to Benfica @10/1 with BetStars might be worth a small bet too.
