These two have met on no fewer than 91 times. As expected Spurs have the better record winning 45 times, they have drawn on 20 occasions and Stoke have won 26 times.

The last 2 times these have met Spurs have won 4-0 on both occasions including earlier this season in the reverse fixture at the Bet365 stadium, Son Heung-Min scored on either side of the break and Dele Alli and Harry Kane completed the route.

Spurs have been quite hit and miss of late winning 2, drawing 2 and losing 2 of their last 6 fixtures in all competitions. Last time out they faced off against Belgium side Gent in the Europa League, Gent managed to hold Spurs to a 2-2 draw at Wembley which was enough to knock Spurs out 3-2 on aggregate.

Stokes recent form has been identical in their last 6 in all competitions winning 2, drawing 2 and losing 2. Last time out they managed a 1-0 win over Struggling Crystal Palace.

Following the recent decrease in form Tottenham have slipped down to 3rd in the league and a big 10 points behind leaders Chelsea, by the time Spurs kick off that gap could be 13 depending on Chelsea’s result on Saturday.

Due to recent good results Stoke have risen to 9th place in the league and they are putting pressure on the top 8 by closing the gap, the gap is now just 5 points to that top 8 which will be their next target.

For Tottenham they will still be without both Danny Rose (knee) and Erik Lamela (hip).

Stoke could have a major boost ahead of this as Xherdan Shaqiri could return following 3 weeks on the sidelines.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has said they need to move on and forget about the Europa League defeat and try to be focused and ready for Stoke on Sunday.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes has said that the key to the game is to get a foothold in the game early and try to start brightly. He is hoping his players will be sharp from the off.

If you fancy Spurs you can get @9/20 best price with Betway, the draw is @4/1 with a lot of the big firms and Stoke @39/5 with Marathon bet.

Although Spurs is the obvious bet I will be having a small bet on Stoke as Spurs only played on Thursday and suffered a huge disappointment in being knocked out of their 2nd European competition of the season and Stoke have not played a competitive match for over 2 weeks giving them plenty of rest and preparation time for this. If you can get @39/5 or @7/1 for Stoke I think it’s defo worth a bet.
