Liverpool V Tottenham
Saturday 11th February 2017
17.30pm Kick Off Available on BT Sport 1 with GibSat
Liverpool have met Tottenham a massive 167 times in their history. Liverpool dominate with 79 wins. Spurs have won 47 times and they have drawn 41 times.
Despite Tottenham’s massive improvements over recent years, Liverpool are still unbeaten in their last 9 meetings between the two. This season the sides drew 1-1 in the league at White Hart Lane back in August. They also met in October in the EFL Cup when Liverpool defeated them 2-1 with a brace from Daniel Sturridge, a late Vincent Janssen penalty wasn’t enough to get Spurs back in it.
Liverpool have been in shocking form since the turn of the year having only won once and that was against league 2 side Plymouth in the F.A Cup, they have lost 4 and drew one of their last 5. Last time they lost 2-0 to struggling Hull City.
Tottenham on the other hand are on a great run and have won 4 and drew 2 of their last 6 games including last time out when they managed a 1-0 home victory over Middlesbrough.
Liverpool now find themselves outside the top 4 down in 5th position following their recent poor form however a win here could see them move back to 3rd position if results go their way.
Tottenham are not in fear of Liverpool overtaking them but Arsenal in 4th and Man City in 3rd are snapping on their heals. A win could move them 6 points behind leaders Chelsea and a massive 7 above Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp has warned his players he everybody still knows how important it is to deliver and hopes his players are ready to do so.
Mario Pochettino has tried to play down the significance of the tie by admitting it is important but not decisive and he expects a tough game at Anfield.
Despite their run Liverpool are still slight favourites @13/10 with Paddy power and William Hill, the draw is @49/20 with BetStars and Spurs can be backed @5/2 with a few of the big firms.
Liverpool seem to have a knack of performing against the bigger sides especially at home, that being said Spurs are in fantastic for so my money will be on the draw in this one @49/20.
Tottenham HT draw FT is @17/1 with Bet Victor and Liverpool HT draw FT is @16/1 with Bet Victor andSky Bet could be worth a small bet.
