Whilst I am sure the women in your life are fed up of all the football over the festive period but we are loving it. We have another full set of fixtures over the next couple of days starting Monday 02/01/2017.
Mon 12:30 GMT
Middlesbrough V Leicester
Middlesbrough suffered another defeat on Saturday at Old Trafford making 4 losses in their last 5 games. They did take a shock lead against Utd against the run of play but they couldn’t see out the win and conceded 2 goals in 2 minutes when in the 85th minute Martial latched onto a flick on from Zlatan to get the equaliser and a minute later Pogba sealed the win and condemned ‘The Boro’ to another defeat.
Leicester on the other hand may have turned a corner following a win over West Ham, without suspended Jamie Vardy. Leicester still showed glimpses of why they are Champions, they went 1 up in the 20th minute from a Slimani goal and managed to hold on to it despite a fight back and a number of missed chances from ‘The Hammers’.
Middlesbrough are better at home and will relish playing back at the Riverside but will they have enough to see off a rejuvenated Leicester? I fancy the draw which is best priced with SkyBet @11/5. The Boro are @9/5 with various companies and Leicester are @19/10 with Betfred and BetVictor.
Mon 15:00 GMT
Everton V Southampton
Everton scraped a draw last time out away at Hull City with a late goal and coming back from behind twice. They looked poor against Hull and slow, maybe the festive season was catching up to them. Hopefully returning to Goodison Park might help them get their confidence back. One major positive is Ross Barkley was back in the side and back scoring goals.
Southampton have lost 2 home games in a row to Tottenham and West Brom, their last away game was a victory against Bournemouth so maybe playing away might suit them.
I’m backing ‘The Toffees’ to edge this in what I expect to be a close encounter, they can be backed @6/5 with most firms. If you fancy the draw its @12/5 with various companies and ‘The Saints’ are best priced @27/10 with BetVictor.
Mon 15:00 GMT
Man City V Burnley
Man City will be hoping to bounce back from the defeat they suffered at the hands of Liverpool last time out. Liverpool scored early and City spent the next 70 minutes trying to get on terms but despite the return of Aguero they never really looked like scoring.
Burnley will be full of confidence going into this following a huge 4-1 Victory over struggling Sunderland at Turf Moor. Striker Andre Gray scored a hat-trick and will relish pitting his whits against Cities defenders.
As confident as Burnley will be we still think City will have enough here and the bookies seem to agree, they are best priced @2/11 with William Hill and Paddy Power. The draw is best priced @15/2 with Bet365 and BetFred and you can get as big as @18/1 for Burnley to take the points back up the M66.
Mon 15:00 GMT
Sunderland V Liverpool
Sunderland have conceded 7 goals in their last 2 games, 3 in a 3-1 loss to Man Utd and last time out a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Burnley. Sunderland are in the bottom 3 and in for what looks like a long fight for survival and will be desperate for any points they can get.
They face a Liverpool side who couldn’t be any more confident, they are currently 2nd in the league and have just beaten Man City at Anfield in a 1-0 win. Henderson was substituted against City with a heal injury and “The Reds” will be hopeful that their captain will be fit to face Sunderland.
I have Liverpool to continue their fine form and Beat Sunderland comfortably and are as short as 4/11 with various firms to do so, we will be looking for better value and Liverpool to be winning at HT and winning at FT is best price @1/1 with Corals. The draw is @9/2 with most firms and Sunderland are best price with William Hill @10/1.
Mon 15:00 GMT
West Brom V Hull City
West Brom will be buoyant going into this fixture, they have just come from behind away from home against Southampton to take all 3 points. They are in 8th in the league table and will really fancy this one at home against 2nd to bottom. Hull City played really well at home against Everton and will consider themselves very unlucky not to have gotten all 3 points having been pegged back twice. We think the home side are excellent value here @4/5 with various companies. You can back the draw @27/10 with Bet365 and Paddy Power if you fancy Hull they can be backed @9/2 with various companies.
Mon 17:15 GMT
West Ham V Man Utd
The hammers will be disappointed following their recent defeat by the Champions Leicester, prior to that defeat they had previously won 3 in a row. Against Leicester they missed a hat full of chances and started slow which allowed the Foxes to take all 3 points.
Man Utd on the other hand are now unbeaten in the last 10 Premier League matches winning their last 5 in a row. They came from behind in their most recent fixture to beat Middlesbrough 2-1 with 2 late goals. We fancy Utd to continue their fine form here and are best price @ 7/10 with Coral. The draw is priced @3/1 with most firms and West Ham are @5/1 with Bet365.
Enjoy the games.
