Everton 1 – 1 Man Utd

Both Everton and Man Utd found themselves just outside the top 5 and both hoping to chase down a champions league spot. Unfortunately neither side started like they were chasing down anything, the first half started very scrappy with neither side looking like they wanted to take the initiative.

It wasn’t until a few minutes before half time when Martial played in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Everton keeper over committed himself and found himself in no mans land which left Zlatan with a chance to chip the keeper from outside the box which he kindly obliged.

The 2nd half was a little more lively and De Gea was forced into a fine save from Kevin Mirallas. Anders Herrera also hit the woodwork with a thunderous shot from inside the box following great play from Mkhitaryan. From there Everton tried to take control of the game with Utd happy to play counter attacking football but neither side looked likely to break the deadlock.

In the 82nd minute Utd introduced England striker Rashford to give their counter attack some much needed pace but her was unable to make any impact. United also introduced former Everton midfielder Fellani who two minutes after being introduced made the worst mistake of conceding a penalty, Leighton Baines stepped up to take it and anticipated De  Gea going the right way, the ball still nestled in the back of the net.

The Utd keeper was forced into action on several occasions following the equaliser but manged to keep Everton at bay. Both teams may feel like they have dropped 2 points. Man Utd now sit in 6th and Everton find themselves down in 8th.
