WHEN 19:00CET Thursday 14th July 2016
WHERE Friends Arena, Solna, Sweden
Second Qualifying Round, First Leg
Tonight’s UEFA Europa League fixture will take place at the iconic 50,000 seater Friends Arena stadium in Solna, Sweden. After watching Lincoln’s history 1 – 0 victory over Scottish Champions Celtic, there’s a fresh optimism that anything is possible.
The Swedish Allsvenskan runs through summer and AIK are currently occupying 5th place after a 1 – 1 away draw to Kalma on Sunday. AIK are unbeaten at home in over 10 games across Allsvenskan League, club friendlies and UEFA Europa League competitions so it’s no surprise that Europa FC are massive outsiders priced up @ 33/1 with Ladbrokes.
Although Europa College FC are clear underdogs, they’ll be going into tonight’s game with a spring in their step following their qualifying 3 – 2 aggregate win over Armenians Pyunik Yerevan. For those who’ve not yet seen the home leg 2 – 0 victory, check the video below.
Europa FC have been acclimatising and training in Sweden and the mood in the camp is quite positive, the game will be a big experience for the players and squad as a whole who will be looking to learn and mostly enjoy this massive experience and opportunity. The best part about being an underdog is that the pressure is on your opponent and, as 2016 has demonstrated through Leicester, Wales, Portugal and Lincoln Red Imps, this is the year of the underdogs. #ImpossibleIsNothing
